St. Dominic was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education in 2012. St. Dominic School was named a national Green Ribbon School in 2022 for our efforts in environmental education.
Our Catholic education is more than going to Mass and memorizing prayers. Life lessons – about tough topics such as social justice, community service, respect and compassion – are woven into every aspect of school life and help our children to make solid decisions as they mature and grow.
With capacity enrollment of 225, St. Dominic has an intentionally small student body. Having one class per grade allows us the small student-teacher ratios and a close-knit environment in which students thrive.
Area high schools, SDS alumni and their parents all confirm it: students who come from St. Dominic place at the top of their incoming high school classes and step quickly into leadership roles. We help students develop effective interpersonal skills, set goals and discover their own talents, paving the path to future success.
We offer one-to-one technology for students in grades 5-8. The school also offers a fully equipped technology lab with 3D printer and green screen, Interactive Boards in every room, iPads, laptops, Elmo projectors. We have a full-time Technology Coordinator to ensure that technology is integrated into every aspect of our curriculum. In addition, we are one of the few schools to offer a dedicated technology course to all students Grades K through 8.
We teach all students at an accelerated pace, introducing new subjects as children show signs of readiness, while devoting extra resources to those who need them. As a small school, we can differentiate our instruction so that each student is challenged and equipped with the tools to meet success.
All students are given the opportunity to join band in 4th grade and, because of our small size, students receive generous one-on-one time with the instructor. We also offer on-site, private lessons in voice, piano and instrumental music at an additional cost for those who seek them.
Through our Parish Bulldog Club, students at St. Dominic can train and compete in a wide variety of sports starting right from Kindergarten.
Children can arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. at no extra charge. An affordable, safe, structured after care program is available until 6:00 p.m. every night, with supervised study halls, snack, creative and athletic opportunities available.
In addition to being state-certified and highly trained, our staff members exude a warmth, dedication and vitality unparalleled in other environments. Staff turnover is low, and a sense of stability and tradition runs throughout.
