In addition to the standard curriculum, students have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: Instrumental Music, Voice, Power of the Pen, Chess Club, GCCTM Math Competition, Spelling Bee, and Earth Ambassadors.
Each year, 7th and 8th Grade students who demonstrate a flair for writing prepare for this creative writing competition which is held on district, regional and state-wide levels. Students compete against students from other schools by writing in varied genres about an array of topics.
Students in grades K - 8 may participate in a chess development program from Progress with Chess. Sessions include interactive lessons and structured open play opportunities.
Students in 5th grade and up may audition to be part of the Morning Announcements crew. The announcements are filmed weekly and are viewed by each grade level in the morning.
Earth Ambassadors should read “Students in grades 3- 6 can be part of the Earth Ambassadors Club, a group that is tackling environmental issues here at school and beyond. They are in charge of school-wide recycling efforts and plan the school-wide Earth Day Celebration. They live out our call to care for God’s creation.
Students may participate in the X-STREAM Games Challenge sponsored by the Diocese of Cleveland. Each school year, students have opportunities to create STREAM projects that are entered into a Diocese-wide competition.
St. Dominic School students have an opportunity each year to participate in a residency by the Great Lakes Theater Company. They learn about acting techniques and become familiar with well-known plays and performances. Actors from GLTC work with the students for a full week of lessons.
